The total cost of the project is in excess of £1.2bn and includes major refurbishment of London Bridge tube and bus stations, along with other local transport improvements.

The Shard is a 72 storey mixed-use building comprising a substantial office element, retail, restaurants, hotel and apartments; integrated into a new public piazza and concourse at London Bridge Station. At 310m in height, it will be the tallest building in Europe. The Shard will be the centrepiece of the London Bridge Quarter incorporating the redevelopment of New London Bridge House. The project Development started in late 2006 with completion scheduled in 2010.
